Carol has grown-up having
Airedales as a part of her life.
In 1995 Carol and Michael
started showing and breeding Airedales. The name WestRidge was a conceived by a
combination of West Hills, California where we are originally from and our home
being located at the top of a Ridge overlooking the San Fernando Valley..
While in California, Carol and Mike were members of the Southern
California Airedale Association. Carol served as Vice President for two
years and Mike served as Show Chairman at our Southern California Airedale
Specialty for two years. We also served as delegates for Great Western Terrier
Association while in California.. We still members of the club even though
we currently reside in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Now in Arizona, we are active members in the Sun Country
Terrier Association. Carol is also a member of the Scottsdale Dog Fanciers
Association.
Carol is a member of the National Club which is the Airedale
Terrier Club of America. She is on their Breeder Referral List.
We occasionally have litters of puppies. They are
born in our home with special focus spent on socializing the puppies for transition into their new homes. When the puppies are old enough,
they are moved to the kitchen and family areas of our home for further
socialization. There are many people, children and household noises to help them
acclimate in their new world.. In addition we are located on an acre which provides plenty of exercise and
playtime for the puppies.
The goal at WestRidge is to conform to the Airedale Breed Standard.
Since we do
show, our litters are critiqued by the judges that we show under. This provides
a continuous feed-back loop to improve our lines. Along with our ongoing
improvements in conformation, temperament
is also a consideration in breeding. We strive for a tempered
"terrier" tenacity in our lines which is one of the qualities that
make WestRidge Airedale companions so enjoyable and fulfilling.
We will gladly provide referrals from past puppy buyer
placements upon
request.
